Our staff work coveralls were finally starting to wear out, so we decided to make another batch.

This is our fourth version, and we've completely reworked the pattern from the ground up. Once again, we think it's our best version yet.

The most important thing about coveralls is that they shouldn't restrict your movement, whether you're squatting down or reaching your arms overhead.

The challenge is that allowing for this kind of movement usually means a loose, baggy fit that doesn't look particularly sharp.

So we went back to the drawing board, revisiting the pattern and making numerous prototypes until we achieved a design that's both easy to work in and has a clean, streamlined silhouette.

The details are all designed with real work in mind: a rounded collar, raglan sleeves, double knees, snaps positioned higher on the sleeves to prevent scratching furniture, a concealed front zipper, and chest pockets with flaps to keep sawdust out, among other practical features.

Ready-made coveralls are inexpensive, but they often come with compromises that don't suit our needs. So, even though it costs more, we decided to have ours made in Japan.

They have the look of a U.S. military flight suit, and we think they're pretty cool.
